Christmas Cardinal

No, this image is not Stampin' Up :( Jen had this little guy laying around and I thought he would be good to use for Christmas cards to sell at the craft fair in November. I used the same layout as this card that I made back in July. I like the Christmas one better--sorry for the poor quality, I think my camera was dying when I took this picture.

Stamps: Heard from the Heart, Misc Cardinal Stamp
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Merry Moments DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Whisper White, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Texture Plates, Real Red Ribbon, Sponges, SU Markers, Sanding Block, Dimentionals

1. Score 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Chocolate Chip at 4 1/4 and fold on score line.
2. Cut a 3 inch square of Very Vanilla, a 3 1/4 inch square of Old Olive, and a 3 1/2 inch square of Real Red.
3. Stamp the cardinal image in the center of Vanilla paper in Basic Black. Stamp branches around edges.
4. Sponge Vanilla piece with Old Olive. Sponges other two squares with Chocolate Chip
5. Adhere all layers and set aside.
6. Run a piece of Real Red through the Big Shot with the polka dot Texture Plate, then again through with the Top Note die. Cut the shape in half. Sand the dots with the sanding block and sponge the edges with Chocolate Chip.
7. Cut a 1 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece of DSP and wrap Real Red Polka Dot ribbon around it. Cut another small piece of ribbon and knot it around the other strip so that the knot is able to move around.
8. Adhere the DSP and Top Note piece to the card base.
9. Ink sentiment from Heard from the Heart in Whisper White. Wipe off all words except "Christmas" with a towel or baby wipe. Stamp word in top 1/3 of the right side.
10. Stamp the other two words in Whisper White onto Real Red and cut out. Adhere above and below the word "Christmas".
11. Adhere cardinal image with dimentionals.

Happy Friday!

I was just playing around today before the girls showed up for my workshop and this is what I came up with. It's really different from the cards I usually make as it doesn't have any ribbon! I'm usually the queen of ribbon. But I really really like this one :) And to top it off, the whole thing was made from scraps! Yeah! I also have been obsessed recently with 4 1/4 square cards. I think they are the perfect size!

Stamps: Great Friend, Heard from the Heart
Paper: Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Whisper White Cardstock, Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories: SU Markers, Dimensionals

1. Score 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 Baja Breeze at 4 1/4 and fold on score line.
2. Cut three 1 1/4 x 4 panels of Basic Gray and three 1 1/8 x 3 7/8 of DSP. Adhere the DSP to the Basic Gray. Adhere panels to card base evenly spacing them.
3. Cut 3 1/2 square Basic Gray, 3 1/4 square Baja Breeze, and 3 inch square of Whisper White.
4. Stamp the leaves around the left side and bottom of Whisper White, stamping off twice before re-inking.
5. Using the So Saffron SU Marker, ink up only the word "happiness" from the Heard from the Heart set. Stamp on Whisper White.
6. Ink the entire greeting with Basic Gray and stamp onto scrap piece of paper. Cut out words and adhere them around "happiness" using dimensionals cut in half.
7. Mat the Whisper White square to Baja Breeze square and then to Basic Gray square. Adhere the entire piece to the card base.
8. Take a 1/2 x 4 strip of DSP and run it across all of the layers.
9. Stamp the butterfly twice and cut both out. Adhere together using dimensionals and then adhere to card base in upper right corner.

Acrylic Frame Post-It Holder

This is a Post-It holder I made for my desk at work. I also plan to make something similar for our Administrative Assistant at work for Administrative Professional's Day on April 22. They are a super easy (and cheap--the frame was $1 at Family Dollar) way to spice up your office!

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Heard From the Heart
Paper: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery Cardstock and Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery
Accessories: Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery Ribbon, Corner Rounder, Post-It, Binder Clip, Acrylic Frame

*These are the dimensions for a 5x7 frame, but can be altered to fit any size frame

1. Stamp Pocket Silhouettes with Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery ink onto the bottom of a 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp sentiment from Heard From the Heart with Chocolate Chip ink on top.
2. Use corner rounder to create scalloped border on 4 1/2 x 1 piece of Bashful Blue. Adhere to white cardstock.
3. Wrap Certainly Celery ribbon where the white and blue meet and adhere to back.
4. Adhere stamped piece to 5 x 7 piece of Sale-A-Bration DSP.
5. Adhere 3 1/4 square piece of Certainly Celery to 3 1/2 square piece of Apricot Appeal and adhere to bottom of DSP.
6. Slide DSP into frame so that the stand is at the top.
7. Tie a small piece of Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue ribbon into a knot and adhere directly onto frame overtop of the Certainly Celery ribbon. Adhere Post-Its in the center of the Certainly Celery square.
8. Adhere 3/4 square of Certainly Celery cardstock to top of binder clip and clip onto frame.

Emboss Resist

Well, from my first workshop, I got a booking for my first party! I guess it really wasn't from my workshop, because Kim had told me ahead of time she was planning to book, but anyway...her favorite technique is emboss resist, so that will be the make and take for her party! Here is what I have come up with:
I used the Flower Fancy set...it's probably my favorite because of it's versatility! The greeting is a little off center and one of the flowers got a little smudged (of course it had to be the one in the middle!), but overall I was pretty pleased with it!

Stamps: Flower Fancy, Heard from the Heart
Paper: Natural Ivory, Chocolate Chip Cardstock
Ink: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder, Embossing Gun

1. Stamp the big flower from the Flower Fancy set with Certainly Celery all over the front of the Natural Ivory cardstock (4 1/4 x 11; scored and folded at 5 1/2). Stamp each flower twice before re-inking to create stamped off effect.
2. Stamp same flower with Versamark Ink onto 3 3/4 x 3 piece of Natural Ivory cardstock. Emboss with clear embossing powder.
3. Using a sponge dauber or cotton ball, spread Certainly Celery ink around centers of flowers and Chocolate Chip ink around the petals until you have desired effect.
4. Adhere to 4 x 3 1/4 piece of Chocolate Chip. Run your fingernail around the edges to distress.
5. Adhere to top half of card and stamp greeting from Heard from the Heart set on the bottom using Chocolate Chip ink.
